Danielle Devon, graduating senior, would be a nobody at Oak Ridge High if it weren't for red-gold hair down to her waist. Her hair is of an amazing thickness and sheen. Otherwise Danielle thinks that she is pretty plain. She's certainly no match for her arch rival, Marjorie Fox, who has curves in all the right places.
Lately Danielle's hair has been interfering with her sleep. She has started having horrible nightmares. Danielle dreams of stealthily creeping up on Marjorie while she is kissing Danielle's boyfriend, Daren, in the front seat of a car. Her dream self tries to strangle Marjorie with her long hair. She tosses Marjorie's body into her trunk and zooms off. She stops in her front yard and dumps it into the black hole at the bottom of the oldest live oak tree. The wind's blowing. The branches catch hold of Danielle's long hair. She dangles in the air. Then she falls into the black hole and keeps falling until she wakes up in her own bed.
Her long hair is wrapped around her own neck strangling her for real!
