Aus dem Schattenreich
Excerpt
Cissy tried to calm herself by taking off her harem costume and veil and hanging them up in her closet. Then she took a seat in front of the vanity her parents had gotten for her last Christmas, afraid of what she might see. At first everything seemed normal enough. Carefully she removed her powder, rouge, and eye makeup with makeup pads. She took a comb to her short brown hair - straight and thin as it was - and stroked away at it. She told herself that this was just a horrible day. Everything would be back to normal by tomorrow. Somehow.
Please, God. It had to be.
She didn't like Regina. She had never liked her. She hated beautiful girls because they had such an unfair advantage with the boys. Sometimes she had wished Regina would disappear so she could have a chance at Kevin, but not like this. Never like this! Good Lord, she hadn't done anything bad to Regina. It was impossible.
But then Cissy spotted it in her very own mirror. Cissy leaned closer to the looking glass to take a second look, holding her breath in terrible suspense. There could be no mistake about it. Deep in the pupils of her ordinary-looking hazel eyes, Cissy saw two red fires burning. The flames curled upwards.
